Updated over a week ago

Overview

The Commitments is a powerful view designed to give you instant clarity on your financial lock-ins with AWS. It provides a centralized, consolidated view of all your Reserved Instances and Savings Plans, eliminating the need to dig through multiple AWS console pages.

Key Features

  • Centralized Visibility: See all your current AWS commitments (Reserved Instances and Savings Plans) in one place, across all linked accounts.

  • Database Savings Plans: Full integration with Database Savings Plans in the Cost Explorer, allowing you to visualize how these plans apply to your database usage.

  • Due Date Tracking: Monitor when your commitments are set to expire so you can plan renewals ahead of time.

  • Email Notifications: Receive automated email alerts when commitments are approaching their expiration dates.

How It Works

The Commitment Manager automatically detects all Reserved Instances and Savings Plans across your linked AWS accounts. For each commitment, it displays the type, term, payment option, start and end dates, and utilization metrics.

You can filter commitments by account, service, or status. The view integrates with the Cost Explorer to show how your commitments are applying to your actual usage, helping you identify under-utilized commitments or coverage gaps.

Email Notifications

The Commitment Manager can send you email alerts when a commitment is approaching its due date. A configurable notification threshold ensures you only receive meaningful alerts. This helps you proactively plan renewals or adjustments before commitments expire, avoiding unexpected cost increases.
