Description
We have identified RDS instances in your account that are not covered by a Reserved Instance. Reserving RDS instances that represent a steady-state workload can lead to significant cost savings on your RDS usage.
Selection Criteria
The RDS instance has not been covered by a Reserved Instance in the last 7 days.
The RDS instance has maintained a steady-state workload for more than 7 days.
Expected Saving
Up to 36% savings with a 1-year No Upfront Reserved Instance, and up to 54% with a 3-year All Upfront commitment, compared to On-Demand pricing.
Operational Impact
⚠️ Warning — Financial commitment: Reserved Instances are a 1 or 3-year billing commitment. Ensure the workload is stable and long-term before purchasing.
⚠️ Warning — Instance type and engine lock-in: RDS RIs are tied to a specific instance type, database engine (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL), and region. A change in engine or instance class after purchase will leave the RI unused until expiry.
